|Description:||Full-time position (10 months) teaching high school students in a day treatment program. Will teach a curriculum with emphasis on the fundamentals of math, english, and computer technology in an independent classroom. Will work with adolescents with various psychological and substance abuse problems.|
|Duties:||Plans curriculum and prepares lessons and other instructional materials to meet individual needs of students, considering state and school requirements, physical, emotional, and educational levels of development.|
Confers with parents, administrators, testing specialists, social worker, and others to follow an individual educational program for each student.
Instructs students in the identified academic subjects.
Works with students to increase motivation, provides consistent reinforcement to learning, continuous assessment of level of functioning, and continuous feedback to students for all learning activities.
Removes disruptive students as necessary. Restrains aggressive students through the use of appropriate intervention techniques.
Maintains sensitivity to cultural difference with client population.
|Qualifications:||Must possess a North Carolina teaching license.|
Prefer someone who has EC experience working with at-risk adolescens and /or substance abuse problems.
